NEWSLETTER | 4 DECEMBER 2017 | AND SO 2017 COMES TO A CLOSE

And what a ride it’s been – from DHET registrations and QCTO new qualifications to ministerial changes!  We’ve never done so many accreditation applications as we did in 2017 – on average 150 companies going through the accreditation process at any given time.  Our 5 full-time accreditation consultants were kept very busy!

We also had great success with our Discretionary Grant service – offered free to clients, with only a small percentage of the amount awarded charged, should we be successful.

And as we ease into the quieter summer break, we have all taken some time to reflect on the last 15 years and how Thrive has changed and evolved to meet an ever-changing, dynamic and challenging landscape.

But there’s no rest for the wicked! New and exciting ventures are on the horizon to be launched in 2018… so keep your eyes peeled – I’ll be sure to keep you posted.

From all of us here at Thrive, we wish you and your loved ones a blessed, happy and restful holiday; bringing you renewed energy and excitement for the year that will be 2018.

Everything of the best!

In short, all Seta accredited training providers need to apply to be registered with DHET (Dept of Higher Education) by the 30 of June 2017. The DHET registration requirements include:

  • A Seta accredited private training company – for full or part qualifications;
  • Application forms completed and delivery to DHET by 30 June;
  • Updated business plan with a little more detail than you initially needed for your Seta accreditation application;
  • DHET payment – R500;
  • A recent OHS audit (customised options for SME training providers available through Thrive);
  • Educational surety/guarantee (insurance option available);
  • Some other documentation, which we mostly have on file for Thrive clients.

DHET LOSES COURT APPEAL
In case you missed it, DHET has lost its court appeal and the grant regulations that changed the Mandatory Grant to 20% (from 50%) have been set aside. We’ll keep you in the loop on how that unfolds and what it will mean for the up-coming skills submission season in March / April 2018 as soon as we receive word on this.
