Social responsibility

Thrive has chosen to sponsor Yenzani Children’s Home in Midrand, Gauteng. We believe a good, stable society is developed through providing education and care to children.

By helping to run this non-profit organisation, as well as assisting with fundraising, public relations and event co-ordination, we are committed to making a significant and positive impact on the young lives at the home, as well as wider society.

About Yenzani Children’s Home

Established in 2002 by Sanne Mirk, Yenzani seeks to provide safe housing to children in crisis, defend their rights, protect them from secondary abuse, and address the concern of children being ‘returned’ to the perpetrators of abuse.

Barry Bouwer offered his home in Midrand rent-free on condition that it would be used to help children in crisis. The house was repaired, a health certificate was granted and donations of second-hand household items rolled in. Gary Bailey, who later became Yenzani’s patron, pledged his financial support, as did concerned citizen Andre Pienaar. Andrea Kellett, a registered nurse, also joined as a director of this home to promote and assist Yenzani.

Yenzani officially opened on 4 September 2003 as a Section 21 Company, Non-profit Organisation. It received its first accolade on 4 November 2004 when the then Mayor of Johannesburg, Amos Masondo, presented Yenzani with a Certificate of Recognition for services rendered to the Citizens of Johannesburg Regions 1 & 2.

Yenzani is a registered Children’s Home, fully compliant Public Benefit Organisation, founder member of The Greater Midrand Children’s Forum and member of SASPCAN & NACCW.
